Encouraged by my relatively recent discovery of Conlon Nancarrow’s music, I’ve been writing these studies for MIDI piano. Each study is generated from one (!) ‘melody’, using transposition and canonic displacement, allowing me to experiment with concepts ranging from polytonality to rhythmic frameworks.
